Wheelchair & Disabled Services

Guests with special needs due to a disability will find the Tegernsee Valley refreshingly accommodating. Much thought and planning has gone into making this region as accessible as possible. For instance, each community provides disability-friendly toilets and parking spaces, which are listed in the Lake Tegernsee A-Z Holiday Guide. This guide is availble from your nearest tourist information centre or downloadable here.

Disability-friendly parking spaces are clearly signposted and reserved for resident and visiting drivers with a valid certificate of disability.

Check the “Behindertenkompass” website for more information on facilities and services for the disabled. There, you will find useful tips regarding your journey, accommodation and suitable restaurants as well as ideas for leisure activities, sports and culture.

Wheelchair-accessible Lakeshore Footpath

This Rottach-Egernn trail follows the lakeshore for about 15 km, past the foot of Mt. Wallberg, along the Rivers Weißach and Rottach. It makes sense to divide it up and explore it in parts. You will find this footpath as a dotted red line on the panoramic map of the valley available from the Tourist Information Centre Rottach-Egern. Along Mt. Wallberg, the trail is only suitable for the very athletic and those using an electric wheelchair or availing of an escort – as the path alternates for about 100 m between ascents and descents of up to 16 %.

Cruises on Lake Tegernsee

The ships Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern provide ideal conditions for an enjoyable lake cruise and are accessible to wheelchair users. Disability-friendly toilets are also available. Ramps are 72-86 cm in width. More information at www.bayerische-seenschifffahrt.de, tel 08022/93311 or from your tourist information office.
