One of the greatest assets around Lake Tegernsee in winter as in summer are numerous traditional mountain huts, some of them over a hundred years old, which today cater to those in need of a cold beer, lemonade or a sumptuous snack. It will take you about 1-2 hours to reach some of the closer huts. Do check for their opening hours with your nearest tourist information centre. 

The famous Mount Wallberg is a must during your stay at Lake Tegernsee. Its highest peak and most prominent feature, it also grants stunning views of the entire lake as well as the Austrian Alps to the south. If you feel truly fit, you might dare the ascent, which in parts gets quite strenuous and takes about two and a half hours. Otherwise: enjoy riding up by cable car.
